Why Should I Love Myself?

I want to give a shoutout here to Bruce Lipton, PhD who is a renowned biologist and author who has extensively studied the intersection of science and spirituality. His research has focused on how our beliefs and thoughts can impact our physical health and well-being. Lipton has also written extensively on the topic of self-love and its importance in leading a fulfilling life. If you’re wondering if you really need to love yourself, I highly recommend listening to his interview on the Wise Traditions podcast.

According to Lipton, self-love is the foundation of personal growth and development. He argues that without self-love, we cannot truly love and connect with others or live up to our full potential. Getting into relationship with others, without first loving ourselves, only sets us up for failure by engaging in a system where two people “need” each other to feel stable. Instead, if we love ourselves first, and enter into relationships with people who also love themselves, we can create truly magnificent relationships based purely on love, not just on need.

Lipton also emphasizes the importance of taking care of our physical bodies, including getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and engaging in regular exercise. By prioritizing self-care and self-love, we can increase our overall well-being and improve our ability to cope with stress and challenges.

Overall, Bruce Lipton’s teachings on self-love emphasize the importance of cultivating a positive relationship with ourselves in order to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Self Love Organizations For Men

While many self-love organizations and coaches may focus primarily on supporting women, it’s important to note that self-love is a universal concept that is equally important for men, especially during a time when men’s roles and worth are being marginalized in western society. Here are some organizations and coaches that are doing important work in promoting self-love among men:

The Good Men Project

The Good Men Project is a media company that aims to redefine what it means to be a good man in today’s society. They offer articles, podcasts, and videos that explore topics such as relationships, mental health, and masculinity in a way that promotes healthy self-esteem and positive self-image for men.

The Confident Man Project

The Confident Man Project is a coaching program that helps men develop more confidence, self-esteem, and self-love. Founder Graham Stoney offers one-on-one coaching and an online course that teaches men how to overcome negative self-talk and limiting beliefs, and cultivate a positive and loving relationship with themselves.

The ManKind Project

The ManKind Project is a global nonprofit organization that aims to support men in their personal growth, emotional well-being, and spiritual development. They offer workshops, retreats, a global network of men’s groups and online resources that help men connect with themselves and others in a way that promotes healthy self-esteem and self-love.

The Art of Manliness

The Art of Manliness, for many years, has offered community and content that is designed to help men feel more comfortable and empowered in their masculinity. In their words, they “seek to help men grow up well, reach their potential, become better friends, mentors, husbands, fathers, and citizens, and live a life of eudamonia — skill, flourishing, excellence, and virtue.” The highest form of self-love!

The Best Self-Development Organization For Men

I want to call out my absolute FAVORITE organization for men, one that I’ve had personal experience with (my husband is a member). Front Row Dads is an organization that provides resources, support, and community for fathers who want to be more engaged, present, and loving in their roles as dads. The organization was founded by Jon Vroman, who realized that many dads struggle with balancing work, family, and personal growth, and wanted to create a space where dads could come together to learn, share, and grow.

Front Row Dads offers a range of resources and programs, including coaching, mastermind groups, workshops, and retreats. The focus is on helping dads develop the skills and mindset they need to be more intentional, loving, and effective in their relationships with their children and partners. The organization also emphasizes the importance of self-care and personal growth, recognizing that fathers who prioritize their own well-being are better able to show up as positive role models for their families.

Front Row Dads is a powerful resource for men who want to cultivate greater self-love and become better fathers. Through coaching, community, and a focus on personal growth, dads can develop the skills and mindset they need to show up as their best selves for their families. I recommend starting with their podcast, which you can find on Spotify here. They don’t shy away from diving deep into topics that matter – I’m a wife/mom/woman and even I wholeheartedly enjoy their podcasts.

Self Love is Vital

Self-love is a vital aspect of our well-being that we often neglect. It’s important to prioritize self-care and self-compassion in order to live a fulfilling life. By engaging in practices like positive self-talk, self-care routines, and seeking support from organizations and coaches that promote self-love, we can improve our overall mental health and well-being.

We can all benefit from prioritizing self-love and self-care in our lives. Whether it’s through seeking support from organizations and coaches or practicing self-compassion and self-care in our daily lives, we can cultivate a more loving and fulfilling relationship with ourselves. Remember, self-love is not selfish, it’s essential for our well-being. As someone who used to identify as a “people pleaser”, I know all too well the pitfalls of neglecting self-love and self-care. If you are struggling with putting yourself first and taking really great care of yourself, I encourage you to set aside time and space every single day to prioritize YOU. Because you matter. You are incredible. You have so much potential!
