The Law of Assumption – The Secret Manifestation Hack

The Law of Assumption – The Secret Manifestation Hack

It’s no secret that I’m a huge proponent of manifestation, affirmations, and the Law of Attraction. I’ve been blogging about it at length! But this week on a new podcast (Limitless – go check it out, you’re going to LOVE IT) I heard about the Law of Assumption and I was a little floored I hadn’t come across the topic sooner. Since hearing about it, I have been exploring the concept of the Law of Assumption and learning everything I can about it. How does the Law of Assumption differ from The Law of Attraction? Where did the Law of Assumption come from? How can I use the Law of Assumption for even stronger, reliable manifestations? Let’s dig in!

What is The Law of Assumption?

So, what is the Law of Assumption? The Law of Assumption is getting what you desire by assuming you already have what you desire.

It is the idea that we can create our reality by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled. In other words, if we can feel the reality of our desire in our imagination, it will become our physical reality. By changing our internal reality we influence and change our external reality. The Law of Assumption requires us to actively imagine and feel the reality we want to create, and to assume we already have what we want.

The Law of Assumption is a powerful tool for manifesting our dreams and creating the life we desire. It is a concept that has been around for many years, but it has gained more attention recently thanks to its use by coaches, authors and influencers.

Assumption is Effortless

I’ve written in the past about how desire for a thing can easily turn into chasing that thing, which elicits feelings and energy of desperation and attachment. Desperately wanting something doesn’t actually help you manifest. In fact, it hurts your manifestations. Check out my post on “stop chasing and start attracting” for a good explanation of this.

The Law of Assumption is brilliant because it puts you in the space of effortlessly getting what you want. If I want to be a high-paid CEO and I walk around assuming I already am – then I am allowing the universe to easily bring that reality straight to me, because it doesn’t encounter any friction in doing so. This is where Nadia, in her Limitless podcast episode on Being Delusional, focuses on the power of delusion. You have to delude yourself into thinking you already have exactly what you want. And then watch the heck out, because the Universe, who has your back and has just been waiting for you to get out of your own way, is going to answer swiftly.

The Law of Assumption is Really Just Method Acting

Method Acting is a technique used by actors to create realistic and emotional performances by fully immersing themselves in their character’s thoughts and emotions. This involves using personal experiences and emotions to better understand the character and create a more authentic portrayal. Method Acting requires the actor to fully embody the character and assume their physical and emotional states.

Similarly, the Law of Assumption requires us to fully immerse ourselves in the feeling of our desire and assume its reality. This involves using our imagination and emotions to create a vivid and intense experience of our desire, and to believe in its manifestation as if it is already a reality. Like Method Acting, the Law of Assumption requires us to fully embody the state of mind and emotional state of our desire.

As you’re thinking about how you can use the Law of Assumption in your own life, consider it from this perspective! Pretend you are an actor – become the character you want to be, who has whatever you want to have. Convince yourself it’s real. Keep at it, and it will become real!

Where Did The Law of Assumption Come From?

The Law of Assumption originates from the teachings of Neville Lancelot Goddard, an American philosopher who taught that our thoughts and imagination are powerful tools that can shape our reality.

According to Goddard, our subconscious mind is the key to creating our own reality. By assuming the feeling of our desire, we impress our subconscious mind with the belief that it is already a reality, and our subconscious mind then works to bring that reality into the physical world.

3 easy steps to using the Law of Assumption

So, how can we use the Law of Assumption to manifest our dream life?

  1. Get Clarity: Get real damn clear on what you want and why you want it. Sure, everyone wants to be rich. But haphazardly wanting something isn’t enough. You need a why. You need to know what it will mean for you to be this person or have this thing.
  2. Practice Embodiment Daily: Imagine, vividly, what it feels like to have or to be what you desire. Focus on the feeling of having your desire. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in the experience of your desire. Feel the emotions of that experience in your body. The more vivid and intense the feeling, the better.

If it’s a new car that you desire, imagine yourself in the seat of that new car, hands on the steering way, sitting in that seat, and feel the rush of excitement, the way you feel like an absolute BOSS as you drive down the road. Get in your current car and pretend you’re driving your dream car, and feel all of that gratitude and excitement.
  3. Remove self-limiting beliefs and doubt: The universe can’t give you what you don’t believe you can handle or deserve. The embodiment practice can help chip away at existing doubt the more you do it, but take it a step further and integrate affirmations into your routine that are aimed at removing those limiting beliefs. Try starting with these Solar Plexus Affirmations for Confidence.

The Law of Assumption states that you must believe in the end result, and that belief must be consistent, as if it is already true. This means that you need to actively eliminate negative thoughts and self-limiting beliefs from your mind, and focus only on the positive outcomes you desire. Use positive affirmations to reinforce this positive mindset, and try to eliminate any negative energy in your life.

Vision Boards for Law of Assumption

Another great way to use the Law of Assumption is by creating a vision board. A vision board is a physical representation of your desires and dreams, and it can help you focus your mind on the positive things you want to create in your life. You can create a vision board by collecting pictures, quotes, and other inspiring images that represent your dreams and goals, and then placing them in a prominent place where you will see them every day.

When you create the board, use images that elicit the same feelings you’re feeling in your embodiment practice. Surround yourself with images (vision board, sticky notes, reminders) and fill your mind with thoughts (affirmations, podcasts, guided meditations) that help you delude yourself into believing you are the best version of yourself, living your best life.

What Can I Use The Law of Assumption For?

There’s no limit. Seriously. There are many Law of Assumption examples out there, from manifesting a specific person into your life to creating a successful business. You could use The Law of Assumption for attaining wealth and financial freedom, for healing trauma, for getting your dream job, for fixing your marriage, for being an Olympic athlete.

The key is to focus on the feeling of your wish fulfilled, and to believe in the power of your imagination to create the reality you desire.

How is the Law of Assumption Different From the Law of Attraction?

The Law of Assumption and the Law of Attraction are often mentioned together as two methods for manifesting our desires and creating the life we desire. While they share some similarities, there are key differences between the two concepts.

The Law of Attraction focuses on the idea that our thoughts and emotions have a powerful magnetic force that attracts things into our lives. It teaches us that we can manifest our desires by visualizing them, feeling them, and taking positive action towards them. The Law of Attraction encourages us to think positively and to focus on the things we want, rather than the things we don’t want.

The Law of Assumption, on the other hand, takes things one step further. It teaches us that we can create our own reality by assuming we already have exactly what we want and acting on that assumption. This means that we need to actively imagine and feel the reality we want to create, and impress that belief upon our subconscious mind. It requires us to focus not only on the thoughts and emotions we want to attract, but also on the feeling of our desire and the end result we want to create. You know the term “fake it until you make it”? That is the Law of Assumption. Show up and act like you are xyz or already have xyz and pretty soon it will be true.
